Five on Friday - Week 2 - 2016

Back to posting Five on Friday!

1. I am not a huge binge watcher, but I have done a few shows lately thanks to our Netflix subscription. I know I am late to the game on this one since it came out last March, but I watched Bloodlines this past week and LOVED it! Who doesn't love Kyle Chandler though. Great story line!

2. I am a paper planner person. A goal setter. A list maker. An agenda follower. And I love to write it all down in one place and see it! The Start Planner is new this year and so far I LOVE it! More to come of course!

3. We have been using some of the meal planning services for a while now, and we just LOVE Hello Fresh (there are others we use as well, but I think this is our favorite). Scott loves the directions and how easy it is to follow them, how the ingredients are all portioned out and the serving sizes are just right. We have done 8 meals from them so far and we have loved all of them. Last night was Italian Ciabatta Burgers, SO good!

4. Adele. Enough said. We are going to see her in July and I cannot wait! But, I just LOVED her in Carpool Karaoke!! SO good! I just love her!

5. Happy Hour! We have such a great neighborhood with wonderful neighbors. Tonight is happy hour at our house and I am looking forward to some cocktails, appetizers and a little Cards Against Humanity!

I am linking up with the girls for Five on Friday, check it out!

Team Blond

I didn't watch the full season, an episode here and there, on in the background, but I did think Michelle was a little wacky. But I was on Team Blond from the get go and I am so glad he picked her. I know they have a rough rode ahead of them, but I really hope that they work out.

Real Housewives

Okay, I have to admit, I did not watch the OC series, but I loved the New York version, when the Atlanta season came on, I watched that too. Season 2 of NYC has NOT disappointed although the episode between Kelly and Bethenny last week was AWFUL, I am SO NOT a fan of Kelly's, definitely on Team Bethenny. Kelly reminds me of some former friends, so self-centered and just full of themselves and then this week showing up at the fund raising committee meeting pulling all of these prizes out like that, pure guilt is all I have to say.

The tennis match was pretty funny. Playing for the number of years that I have, I understand competitive players. While I don't see myself as being that competitive, I have played with a number of people like that and truth be told, I hate it. I love love love to play, but I ENJOY it. It is supposed to be fun, at least that is how I feel. I have played with peolpe like Simon though, and it does get kinda boring, so I can understand how Ramona lost interest.

I think the Countess is a fraud who married into a title and now feels as though she is an expert on manners, I think that is a joke. I think that manners are something you learn from a very young age and are instilled in you and that you are a product of your surroundings. Turns out the Count dumped her via email, I don't think that would have made it into her etiquette book, do you? Now, not for not, but there is always time to let down your guard and have fun too, people that are always prim and proper can be boring, but there is a time and place for everything!

But, did you see the sneak preview of The Real Housewives of NJ?
OH MY! I was beside myself in tears and laughter fits. Having lived out East in NYC and CT for 18 years, we did constantly make fun of Jersey girls and anytime we would cross the border to Jersey we would make comments, I know that it was just a stereo type and I do have several friends from Jersey, but there is that typical stereo type. The new season looks SO good. Here are some of my favorite quotes from just the season premier. . . .

Before I like you I don't like you.
We are an old school Italian family
Blood is thicker than water
You're a douche
Street smart will get you further than book smart
Now, I am fortunate enough, to enjoy the fruits of his labors
I "used to" have the big hair and fake nails in high school
"You don't play tennis???"
I don't think I am the hottest woman in the world I just think I am very confident in the way I look
You either are going to love me or hate me, there is no in-between
I was engaged 19 times prior to getting married
I actually got mine (AmEx Black card) before Madonna did
Hurry my hair is going to frizz
Happy life, happy wife, mwah!
Mommy doesn't run, boobs are too big
I just think my boobs are too big for tennis
You're coming into my life, I want to have you investigated

Now to me, the first Real Housewives of New Jersey has already been on, wasn't that The Sopranos? I am totally kidding, but it seriously looks SO good I cannot wait.

10 Most Fascinating People of 2007

Did you catch Barbara Walters special last night? I had a JLM social, but was able to catch it when I got home with the boy, sans commercials, which is always nice. So what did you think? Did you think they made good selections? Who would be on your top 10?

I agreed with some of the selections, but man did she feed in to Victoria Beckhams ego or what? She is really something, and did you see her smile? Now I know why she doesn't smile, she does not exactly have the most attractive smile. Or maybe we are just so used to her looking so serious.

I love JT, so of course I loved the fact that he was chosen, and I thought it was kinda funny that he slammed Brad and George.

How about our former President Bill? I actually thought he came across as quite charismatic. But he still would not get my vote. . .

I love that they picked Katherine Heigl and Jennifer Hudson. Both girls seem so down to earth and have both had really big years. Definitely deserving and I thought they both came across really well.

The founders of My Space. I am not a big My Spacer, I have a space, but I never go there or use it. I guess I prefer to do my social networking one on one, but I do like it for viral marketing and think it is a great tool. I had no idea it surpassed google though. Good for them I say though, take an idea and turn it into millions.

Don Imus, well he has definitely had a big year. I don't like how the media swarmed on him though. I do believe what he said was wrong, but I also think that it was slightly taken out of context and I still believe that we live in America and have freedoms and one of those is freedom of speech. Yes, what he said was wrong, and he was called out for it and apologized, but I do not like the whole media circus that ensued because of it, I think it only made it worse.

J.K. Rowling, most fascinating? Okay, I can deal with that. I have never read the books or seen any of the movies, so I am not sure if I get the hype, but I am very happy for her, she also took an idea and turned it into millions. Go for your dreams!

You may notice I did not even mention Hugo Chavez. I don't like him. I don't believe him and I have no faith in him as a leader. He frightens me and his people are giving him too much power in a country that needs a strong leader not a powerful leader, if that makes sense.

If I had to choose the most fascinating person of 2007, I am not sure who I would choose. There are so many to choose from, I will have to put some thought into it. How about you? Who would you choose?

Things I am NOT Digging!

Yes, believe it or not, time for a little venting. But this is serious stuff people!

The boys mother went to the doctor yesterday. She told us on Sunday that she would be doing this, she said that sometimes she gets short of breath and that her stomach was bothering her. Yesterday afternoon, while I was off-site (not at home) I got an email from the boy saying that they were wheeling his mother into surgery for an angioplasty and a stint. This may be a regular procedure, but we are so unfamiliar with this and it was scary to us. The boy was able to go and see her when she came out of recovery, but the doctor was gone already. He had to make sense of what was going on through his dad and sister and none of it made sense. Hopefully things will make more sense today and she will make a full recovery and be okay.

Technical teams. Our development team, one arm of my project team, throughout this entire project has kept telling us during status meetings how they were on time, everything is swell, yada, yada, yada. . . well guess what, now that it is crunch time and we are about to implement, things are NOT so swell and I am having to burn the candles at both ends. AND, I have a meeting to present our project to the CIO Monday. Hmmmmm, this is so not easy. I have not told the boy or anyone about this meeting. It is not a small meeting and I don't want to stress myself. It will all be good. Right?????

Okay, this one is huge. . .not happy about daylights savings, but NOT for the reason you may think. The boy has been busy painting my friends loft at night and such, so of course our shows are DVR'd, right? Or are they? I have not been watching them either so that I can watch them with him. WELL, let me just tell you that throughout the daylights savings thing, I LOST all of my scheduled recordings! SO, no Big Bang Theory, no Rules of Engagement, no How I Met Your Mother, no Two and a Half Men, NO DANCING WITH THE STARS! SO MAD! So we sat down last night to have dinner, IN FRONT OF THE TV (we NEVER do this), it was late for us, about 8:30, and I thought, good we can catch up on our shows. Well. No SHOWS!

RSVP's. I have vented about this before, but running this wine club is not the easiest thing in the world. Luckily I love to plan and so that is the enjoyment I get out of it because it does take a lot of planning and thinking and such. We now have over 300 people and I have been planning about 3 gatherings per month. But inevitably there are a few people every month who RSVP yes for something and then drop out at the last minute. Most events can only handle about 25 to 50 people, but if I tell a restaurant that we have 25 coming and then 5 drop out at the last minute, that is just rude. Rude to the restaurant who has planned for us, rude to the staff who is expecting 25 and rude to the rest of the group who is looking forward to meeting the 5 people that don't show up. Sorry, just had to get that off my chest. Some people don't even drop, they just don't show. There are exceptions who will email me personally and let me know, I can appreciate last minute things that come up, but come on people!

It is finally really cold here. It was 25 degrees this morning when I woke up. For some reason my body has to get adjusted to this. I am constantly cold for the first few weeks that it is this cold and I need to wear a ton of layers to keep warm. I am not sure why this is. Before I lived here and would just come home at Christmas to visit, my parents would crank the heat to 80 for me so that I would stay warm for the short time I was home. Well, now that I live on my own, I don't crank the heat to 80, but I do have space heaters all over. We still have not had a fire, not enough time. . . .but I am ready.

Whew, there, now I feel better, sorry, I don't like being a negative nelly, but I was frustrated and didn't sleep well because of all of this, I will sleep better now tonight.

Dinner tonight for the wine club at a new place I have never been. I am looking forward to it! Hope you are all well and staying warmer than I am!

Things I am Digging!

I have not really chimed in on the whole Fall Season TV line-up, mainly because I just have not had time, and secondly because I have DVR'd so much and really have just not had a chance to catch up with all of it and give it a fair shake, so I didn't want to chime in too early. But I have five at this point without even watching everything so I thought I would give you five.

Big Bang Theory
Have you seen this? HYSTERICAL! I laugh out loud watching this every week. The four main male characters have such a great camaraderie together, this has really added to our Monday nights! I cannot wait for the next week after each episode is over! It is good sophomoric humor but all the same, a good belly laugh is always a good thing!

Rules of Engagement

This was a show that I just got into a little bit last year, but I LOVE this show. I have to honestly say I think it is my favorite. I love David Spade, his subtle sarcastic and sick comments kill me. Patrick Warburton I have always enjoyed and his voice alone cracks me up! I could watch these episodes over and over!

DWS (Dancing With the Stars)
I am loving this season. The drama, the contestants, the dancing, the costumes and of course waiting to see every week who will get voted off! I have my favorites and I am always surprised to see how well some of the stars do. Do you have a front runner? I have been very impressed by how well Marie Osmand has been doing, at first I could not even watch, but a couple of her dances have surprised me, pleasantly!

Samantha Who?

I love Christina Applegate, but this show looks like it will be pretty good, so far anyway, although I am trying to figure out how long they can drag out the amnesia thing, it is pretty funny, I loved last weeks episode with the boob doctor.

Big Shots

This show has got a little bit of everything. It makes you feel sorry for some of the characters, makes you wonder how some of them have made it as far as they have and also gives you some insight into the male ego, another win in my book!
