On the Table Monday (MPM) - Week 36

I cannot believe it is Labor Day and that Summer is wrapping up and Fall, well, even though we had weather in the 90's this past weekend, I know it is right around the corner. We have lots of fun plans and events on the calendar already, and room for some impromptu visits to apple orchards.

We had a wonderful last hurrah to summer though, starting on Thursday with a couple of outings. One to St. Paul for the history happy hour where they did a demonstration of old bicycles, it was wonderful and so much fun to actually see these bikes go for a spin.

From there we went to the Internet Cat Video film festival. . . it was weird, hysterical and fun all at the same time.

But of course it was also international cabernet day, so we ended our day with a nice glass of cab sitting outside on a beautiful evening, soaking up every bit of summer.
Of course we had to hit up the Great MN Get Together for some fried food and people watching! We had big plans to eat this, see that, but our eyes are always bigger than our stomachs. The MN state fair is the second largest fair in the country, but some of the biggest attractions are actually the foods.

We always start with some cheese curds, num!

I LOVE a good caramel milk shake, this one was delicious.
The boy has to have his pot roast sundae. The pot roast sundae consists of mashed potatoes and corn, topped with pot roast and gravy and a cherry tomato on top!
One of the other big attractions at the fair are the butter heads. . .yep, butter heads. Each of the princesses have their heads carved in butter. Including Princess Mary Kay of the Milky Way.
We also had a friend who had entered his wines and took home some blue ribbons, I have had his wines, definitely blue ribbon winners in our book!

Sunday we had friends over for a bbq on the deck. It was a beautiful day and it made for a great night. I did ribs two different ways, BBQ and North Carolina. In my opinion, the BBQ was just better. I also made this jalapeno popper dip, I thought it was pretty good and seemed to go over pretty well.

Monday we were invited over to the neighbors for some pulled pork and other delicious food. He has a green egg and really makes some wonderful things with it!

This week is a little mish mash of everything!
