Fanciful Friday!

Last night was so much fun! The boy got home a bit earlier than expected so instead of meeting the girls and I out, we went together. Which was so much better for me since I was going to cab it.

We met up with the girls and had a really good time! While we do a lot of socializing with the wine group, dinners out with friends and such, it is not very often that we go out for a bar night with live music and beers. Here are some highlights. . .

There was a really good and fun crowd. All of the girls are single so the boy was the token male, and what you can't see in these pictures (no he was not taking the pictures) is that he kept trying to sneak his head in the background in these pictures. TOO funny. It was interesting though how the men would not approach any of the women but once someone started a conversation with any of them there was no problem at all. I just don't get that. Some people say a group of women can be intimidating to approach, but what about a group of men?

The venue is great for catching bands and doing a little dancing (we didn't but we thought about it) and the band last night was pretty good too! I love the stained glass window behind the stage and the chandelier.

The boy and I also decided last night to have his brother and his brother's girlfriend and his sister and her husband over for dinner on February 23rd, so I have a dinner party to plan! The four of them get together and hang out on the weekends quite a bit, but we never seem to get the invite and I know a lot of it has to do with the fact that they have kids the same age that play together, and they live close together and quite a ways from me. But still. . .it kind of makes me feel like once again because we don't have kids, we don't get the invite, so I figured if it is going to happen I am going to have to do it. Is it bad to feel that way? My sister is the same way, because we don't have kids we never get included in anything, do you think that they think that what they are doing is actually just excluding us? There are not going to be kids in our future, that is just a fact and we are both absolutely fine with that, but it is hard when others around us don't consider us because of that. I am rambling here. . .but what I really need to do is go get on those invites.

We are off to dinner and a movie tonight, no meat, Friday. So I made big salads for lunch and we will be headed for pasta tonight and I think we will be taking in Fools Gold even though the reviews were not great, we have been wanting to see it!

Hope you all have a great weekend, we have my sisters three kids so that should be a lot of fun! Or interesting!

Are they (mistakenly) assuming that you would rather hang out without children tagging along? Could that be why they don't include you? Either way, good for you for taking the initiative nad inviting them.

Have fun with the kiddos this weekend. If you find yourself at a grocery store, look for smiley face french fries? Kids love 'em. And what about some Valentine's Day art/baking project?

I agree with Tulipmom--good for you taking the initiative. I know since we have a child that we do a lot of socializing with other people who have kids. Part of it is that's just the way it's happened in our circle of friends, but also it's sometimes a matter of logistics. For example, we and another family sometimes have one family take the kids for the day and the other family fix dinner in the evening. When you have people with kids over for dinner, do you invite the kids too? I can totally see why you might not, but that leaves the kid family with finding and hiring a sitter. Even if kids come along, I know we're sometimes a little nervous if we're going to a non-kid house. Making your house somewhat kid friendly might help. Now I'm rambling. Good luck with it though!

Looks like a fun night out! Kudos to the boy for hanging with all those girls!

so the bangs are driving you crazy? Now, I don't know b/c I don't want to have to wear headbands all the time.
PS like the sweater.
