Weekend Recap!

What a weekend, trying to squeeze in a lot at this time of year, but the boy and I had such a wonderful weekend. I am so glad that we have gotten our shopping done, so that we can enjoy this time of year and getting together with family and friends!

Friday evening we had dinner with J & K from CT.

We started the evening with some wonderful wine and snacks at their place and then headed over to this great new place that we had not been to called Mairin's Table. It is in NE Minneapolis which is an area that I just love. The food was fabulous, what a great menu, the ambiance was wonderful, there was a pianist playing holiday songs and a fire, very warm and cozy.

The chef even came out and spoke to us for a while and brought some samples out of some of the other menu items that we thought looked good. It was such a fun evening and J & K are so much fun to spend time with, what a great way to end the week.

Saturday the boy and I woke up early to hit a couple of estate sales. We had a good time exploring and finding some fun things but boy was it cold. We tried a place for lunch that we had not eaten at which was fun, swung into Super Target and then met my parents back at my house to go and explore the American Swedish Institute. We thought it would be fun to check out the Swedish Institute to see how it was decorated for the holidays.
None of us are of Swedish decent, but we had never been there and thought it would be fun. We were not allowed to take photos inside, but I can tell you that they had 11 of the most fabulous fireplaces that I have ever seen. It was quite busy and there was a lot of history and art to check out.

On our way back to my house, we decided to stop into the Midtown Global Market. This just opened a year and a half ago and it is a really great place here in the Twin Cities to find ethnic food and fare. We had a lot of fun walking around checking things out and we were even able to catch a little dance number.

We headed back to my place so that I could start putting dinner together and prepare for the boys parents to arrive. Earlier in the day when we were at Target I picked up Catch Phrase. I made a couple of new recipes, be sure to check back for those tomorrow. But mostly we had fun eating, catching up and laughing at Catch Phrase. I think we played about 15 rounds, girls against boys of course, I think we let the boys win twice!

Sunday we got some house cleaning and such done and then headed out for a double feature. The nominees for the 2008 Golden Globes have been announced and there are a few we have not seen yet. We saw I am Legend with Will Smith which broke records this past weekend. I thought it was a little scary and freaky, and I didn't sleep well last night, who knows if that was the reason why, but it was a little freaky to me. We also saw Michael Clayton which I LOVED. First of all it does have George Clooney in it, but besides that it has a wonderful storyline that played out very well. I am glad that we got to see it and that it has been nominated. Hoping to get to a few more movies this week, but it is a busy week of course!

Hope that all of you preppy gals had a good time in Boston this weekend, cannot wait for the rehash on the new blog and I am hoping that everyone that traveled had safe travels. Sounds like a great time, and how Libby did it, with finals and a snowstorm I will never know, but I am very envious. Hope you all have a great Monday!
