On the Menu Monday (MPM) - Week 41

We had a fun and busy weekend! Last week got a little nutty as we came back from our work travels earlier than planned due to the snowstorm that was expected up in TRF. Thank goodness we got out of town when we did as the majority of the town lost power and they got a foot of snow. I definitely was not dressed for it and did not have the right footwear.

Friday night we had the boys friend from the Navy over for dinner. The weather had definitely gotten chilly, so comfort food was in order. I made Beef Stew in Red Wine Sauce that turned out wonderfully. That over mashed potatoes was just what the doctor ordered. Our appetizer I had caught a glimpse of on tv last week. Sandra Lee was making it and I thought it looked very fall like and easy, Fig and Prosciutto Crostata, this was SO good and really easy to make, I will definitely be making this again!

Saturday we spent the day with my parents, had lunch and did some shopping in a cute little town. That evening we did our bi-monthly dinner couples dinner out at Parma 8200, it was just delicious!

Sunday we celebrated Canadian Thanksgiving with our Canadian friends. Dinner, as usual, was absolutely delicious. She is a wonderful cook and there are always a few surprises. The turkey was divine!

Turkey is the boys favorite, he is never far as it is is being carved!

I was supposed to travel again this week, but things change! I am kind of happy to be home this week. Because of that, we don't have huge plans, but we do have some fun things to look forward to!

Plans - Sister J is in town, yeah!
Dinner - She is coming for dinner and it is chilly and gray out today, so I thought I would make braised pork ribs and boiled potatoes with corn chowder.

Plans - Bunco night! Should be fun!
Dinner - Ravioli and chicken sausage Frozen Pizza, long day in the office

Plans - maybe a movie Home, another long day in the office
Dinner - Out if we go to a movie Butternut Squash Risotto (num!) and Poached Grouper (Byerly's Cooking Class recipe, will post later!)

Plans - Home, catch up on DVR
Dinner - Leftovers

Plans - Up in the air
Dinner - depends on plans

Plans - Friend J's daughters wedding!
Dinner - Wedding, cannot wait, should be fun!

Plans - Home, work on some house projects
Dinner - Not sure yet, it depends on the weather, but I will definitely be making a batch of soup, the boy has picked out a couple of recipes!

Stopping by for a blog visit from Organizing Junkie's Menu Plan Monday today!
Happy Thanksgiving! That is one huge turkey!
I love this time of year when the temps have cooled down to something liveable in Las Vegas!
When I opened our coat closet I didn't get hit with a blast of heat today. Now that's much better.
I'll be on the lookout for soup recipes to add to my recipe file box.
