Things I have missed

I have now been in my house for 2 1/2 weeks, although it feels like only a couple of days of course and I promise that pictures are coming and soon! There are certain things I have missed about not having my own house and space, one of the biggest things of course is entertaining, even impromptu entertaining. I am the type of person who always has the formal dining room table set for at least four. And I change the linens and settings every month, please do not even ask how many different sets of linens, glasses and chargers I have. I always like to have a centerpiece that goes with that months theme as well. So this of course was one of the first things that I had to do upon moving in. I was lucky enough to find my Duncan Phyfe dining room table that I wanted along with the lyre or harp (whichever you prefer) backed chairs. They still need to be reupholstered, but there is plenty of time for that in January (I think????). So last night I worked late, the boy picked me up and we were going back to my house where I was going to get my laundry done, make some chex mix and coated pretzels for the snack baskets I am putting together for the boys different family members, finish my cards and make dinner for us which was walleye and steamed vegetables. First glitch, the boy says, so and so needs to stop by to give me something. This so and so happens to be his best friend who left this morning to move to DC, dinner for three coming right up. Well then of course I had to call J to see what she was up to because I was dying for her to meet so and so. Dinner for four. So one tickle me elmo TMX, two bottles of wine, three batches of chex mix, and four for dinner later and I finally got to bed, without fininshing my cards and without doing my laundry, however, even though I am so NOT completely unpacked yet, I was so happy having company for dinner, it was so nice and I love having people over, I have really missed it.

So that is one thing, the other thing of course is decorating and getting a house set up and hunting for the perfect thing that has to go in the perfect place. Once the holiday's are over and things slow down a bit, I may need some help. The boy and J do not have exactly the same taste I do, but I know what I like. Can't wait to get the place finished, it is fun, I just wish that I had more time to spend there to do it!
