Update on the Recovery

Is going to be a little (a lot) longer than I had anticipated. Four to six months for a complete recovery, not going back to work until March 9th, no physical therapy until March sometime, but they did bring this CPM chair\machine in for me to use. I need to be on it for four hours a day and I need to keep increasing the mobility of my arm. No driving and just a lot of down time. My mobility and what I "can" do is also pretty limited. SO, what to do.

I have been watching movies at home, not going to the movies. In fact, I have left the house twice since my surgery, once for post op and once to go to Costco for provisions. I have been reading and catching up on some books and magazines. And sleeping. Lots of sleeping. Still on pain meds, hoping to get off of those soon. But just bored.

My sister and her family were over here the Saturday after my surgery to celebrate the twins birthdays which was nice. Although in my true sister form, she was supposed to bring pizza and forgot, so I had to order Chinese. But it was nice to see people. This past Sunday our friends J and K from CT brought a beautiful lunch spread over and we were able to just sit back and catch up, other than that, not a lot of connection to the outside world. I have been really surprised, and guess shocked actually, that the one person that I thought was a true good friend and I have spent a ton of time with, would do anything for, sister J, has not even called or emailed me once to see how I am. She has not even contacted the Boy, which surprises me too. It actually surprised me how much my heart just broke when he said that he was disappointed and hurt that she had not even sent an email. She and her sister did send me flowers, but I know she was out of town at the time, so I am thinking that her sister probably did it. I don't know what to think really. I guess I just thought we were better friends than we really were. I know that if a good friend of mine had surgery, I would at least make a call to see how she was. Oh well, live and learn I guess.

Now to come up with some fun home projects that do not require a lot of arm muscle. I also have been having a really hard time cooking anything. You would be so surprised at what I cannot do, open a can with a can opener, cut anything even semi hard up, no chopping or mixing, so we have been really limited here and I have tried to be creative. Still eating out of the freezer, hopefully that subsidized with some take out will get us through. Any suggestions, greatly appreciated.

I hope you are feeling better! I got the monkey paper at Michaels. For the cards, it's really fun and simple! You just need envelopes, card stock, scrapbook paper and a border punch. I just measured the scrapbook paper against an envelope folded flat and then trimmed a half inch off the top and sides and glued it in the envelope. For the cards, I just measured it against the envelope and cut it out of card stock and did the border punch along the bottom and glues on decorations. I got all the supplies at Michaels. Give it a try - good luck!

Oh my- that is a long recovery! A little down time with no work actually sounds very enticing, but I know I would be crawling the walls after a few days. Take good care.

I'm terrible with "activities" but if I think of something I'll let you know! How about learning another language with Rosetta Stone!?

Did I say I hope you feel better soon in my last comment? If not I hope you feel better soon!

I'm glad to hear your arm is doing sort of okay! My mom had wrist surgery a while ago, I'll ask her what she did to stay entertained during rehab!

Oh, have I been thinking about you. I know the recovery on this surgery is rough....

I just finished season 5 of Weeds via Netflix. AWESOME. Also, Big Love. If you can, get them!

I'm thinking about you :)
