'Tis the Season!

I hope you all had a happy Thanksgiving, got some good shopping in and enjoyed some time with family. I did a little of all of the above. The night before Thanksgiving, sister J. came to pick up her little dog that we had been watching and we somehow managed to polish off a couple of bottles of wine while toasting Thanksgiving Eve. The boy and I brined the bird and prepared to cook it up the next morning. It was our duty to cook the bird and the stuffing this year since my sister has now decided she is a vegetarian as well as the fact that her oven needs to be calibrated. We did a pretty good job if I do say so myself. The only real mistake I made was when my sister asked me how I made the stuffing and I mentioned that it had one cup of chicken stock in it, this sent her into a tizzy. No offense to those of you who are actually real vegetarians out there, I just take issue with my sister the vegetarian. She just is not doing it for the right reasons or the right way. I told her that she is not setting a very good example for her children, she said that she is teaching her children they can make their own choices. Well, her 7 1/2 year old daughter chose to have a tootsie pop for dinner at the Thanksgiving dinner table, I guess she made her choice.

We had some friends over for dinner and some Wii on Friday night which was a ton of fun. We have met some couples recently who are not going to or planning on having children, so that has been a lot of fun getting to know them. Saturday was spent running errands and doing some shopping for gifts, not too many this year, mainly gift cards as the kids get older.

We got the tree out and have done some decorating, hoping to finish that up this week. I had a few new things to add this year, and I switched a few things around, but there is still some tweaking that needs to be done here and there.
Today I was fortunate enough to join 16 other girls at a friends pizza parlour to bake and decorate sugar cookies, and boy did we make cookies.
We each took home about 8 dozen cookies plus enough rolled out dough for about 2 more dozen. We also made some fantastic pizzas and enjoyed some wine.
It was a really fun way to spend the afternoon and get a holiday item crossed off the ta-da list.
This week, a few movie screenings, Nobel Son and The Valkyrie. We also have my company holiday party Saturday night which should be fun. I have a few dresses so far, not sure which one I will wear, I think it will be a game time decision.
