Things I Can't Live Without!

So I saw that Ivanka Trump was on Oprah Tuesday, and I have a lot of admiration for her. She is a very strong female and so is her mother. I had the opportunity to meet them along with little Donny years ago when little Donny and little Ivanka were just little tykes, maybe 6 and 11, something like that, they were attending a birthday party that I was at and they were very well mannered and well behaved children and I think they have both grown into their own. I also believe that Ivanka gives blond's a good name, which always helps. The show had stars on who talked about different things that they just could not live without and it got me thinking, so with out further ado, here are things that I just cannot live without, what are some things that you can't live without?

My DVR, I love being able to catch up on shows, even if it is the same night it is airing and fast forwarding through the commercials. So much easier to use that setting up record on a VCR, wouldn't you agree?

Lip gloss, chapstick, lip gunk, as long as I don't have to stick my finger in it. I like trying different colors at different times of the year. Right now in my pocketbook I have 6 different colors and types of lip stuff but I must say that my favorite at the moment is from Target, Sonia Kashuk called Sheer Seduction, love it!

Books, all types. I like old books, new books, fiction, non-fiction, cookbooks, style books, gift books, chick lit, anything really. I have at least one book with me pretty much at all times so that even if I have a few moments I can read something. I don't know where I would be without books.

Fresh flowers. I have to have a couple different vases of them every week. Seasonal flowers, colorful flowers. Makes no matter, they bring a smile to my face when I see them.

This one is a given, but flip flops, it is really more of an obsession now at this point but I don't even want to count how many pairs of them that I have. I do have to weed through them before the spring though.

Bottled water. I think I drink at least four or five bottles a day and I go through about two cases per week. A lot of people think that it is an unnecessary expense, but they also do not have a house that was built in 1926 with the original pipes that tend to be a little rusty. I would even do a brita, but I just never seem to have the space in my fridge.

I love surrounding myself with pictures of friends and family. Certain pictures evoke fond memories or bring me back to a time or place. If I am feeling down or a little blue, just a glance at a funny picture puts a smile on my face. I love different types of frames and finding the right frames to go in the right place.

Personalized note cards and stationary. Makes great gifts too and now thanks to great creative people like Chloe and others, it is SO accessible and there are so many to choose from! I have a huge bin full of cards and stationary and I just love going to it and pulling out just the right one for just the right occasion! I do have my favorites though.

Table linens and place settings. I have a ton, I have built-ins that house them thank goodness, and I love to change them. Once a month at least and I always leave my dining room table set. Different plates, glasses, linens, and centerpieces. Believe it or not, I think it is a wonderful creative outlet for me. I may not be very crafty, but this I can manage.

Nuts. I know I am, but I also love to eat them. Pretty much any and all types of nuts. They are a great source of protein and I would rather grab for some nuts instead of candy or something maybe not quite as good for me.

In that same category, granola bars or nutrition bars. I keep them in the console of my car and my pocketbook. When on the run and if I get hungry, I always have something to tide me over and it beats hitting a drive through.

Another thing I keep in my console of my car and my pocketbook is lotion. I have my favorites of course, but Aveda Hand Relief is probably my favorite. I hate dry, rough, itchy hands (and MN winters produce very good conditions for this).

Sara Blakely is a saint, or should be anyway (and thank you to the other saint Oprah for giving her the vision to create them). Spanx are such lifesavers. I hate panty lines and I like how they make clothes look so much better. I like the Target version too, but as gravity starts to take its toll on my body, Spanx to the rescue. Isn't it funny how feminism has kinda gone backwards with Spanx, aren't they a modern day version of a corset or girdle? I have no problem with that though!

Vintage costume jewelry. I have quite a bit of it and I love to wear it. Certain pieces just have a way of pulling a look together or putting that extra touch onto an outfit. I have found some unique and fun pieces that you just can't find anywhere else.

This time of year there is a specialty item that I really enjoy that is not available year round. Sierra Mist Cranberry Splash. Weird maybe? But I am not a big soda drinker and this is a treat for me.

Chewy Swee'tarts. I love them, they also come along with me in my pocketbook. Geez, talk about a never ending pocketbook.

Lilly Pulitzer. Enough said (that is if you really know me anyway).

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend, they are seriously talking about flurries here next week, I am totally ignoring it though. We are off to see American Gangster tonight, I cannot wait, anything with Denzel Washington, even though it is a long movie, I cannot wait. Busy weekend here, I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

I really need to sign up for the DVR option with Comcast. Taping my shows on the VCR is definitely getting old.

I've recently started carrying a novel with me in my purse, and it really does make waiting in lines, doctor's offices, etc. so much nicer.

Speaking of bottled water, I was browsing in a Brighton store the other day and the saleslady came over and asked if I'd like some bottled water. Such a simple thing but it really made an impression.

There are so many things I feel like I can't live without but that's a relative statement. The most important thing to me is my friends. Hands down, without them, I'd be nothing.
