Grateful Friday!

Again, I have to go for the fact that I am very happy that "some people" have high blood pressure. I know this sounds like a terrible thing, but, the boy is not going to be able to leave (for Iraq) it looks like with the June 1st deployment. This is a good and a bad thing as I still think they may pull him, we will know more for sure after this drill weekend. I would like him to be deployed with other people from his unit. He is the ONLY person not to be mobilized. He will be the ONLY one from his unit not going. I would rather have him go, if he has to go, with other guys from his unit. I would rather, know one way or another when and if he is going to leave. But guess what? I don't get a choice. I also worry that if he doesn't go this will leave him feeling unfulfilled. He has said to me on many occasions, this is what I signed up for, I knew that this was part of the package when I signed up. This is what I owe the military and my country, I signed up so you would be safe. These are all things that mean a lot to me, and yes, this what I signed up for when I met him and he came into my life, man, I am one lucky girl.

I am also grateful this week for new friends. Happy birthday to Libby who is a rather new "friend". I love that the blogging world has introduced me to her and that I get to come into a moment of her life every day through Schoolbooks and Shoes. I hope that she has a very happy birthday and a wonderful year. Other new friends this week are from the Weekly Dinner Club which was a wonderful experience where we got to share a meal with some great new people that I hope I meet again!

On Wednesday night the boy and I ventured out to this neighborhood where we had dinner, a movie and I stopped into this store which made me very happy, especially since I was wearing my pink and green with my pink and green Eliza B. flip flops. The boy just kept saying, wow, you could live in this store, oh wait, this looks like your closet and the woman working there just kept laughing. This is THE ONLY signature Lilly store in MN, it also is the THE ONLY place that I have found that sells Lilly anymore. There was one other place, but this big store that starts with an M took them over and now no more Lilly :(

I am also grateful for the creativity of others, such as my gal over at English Tea Paperie who made up the beautiful logo for my wine club for which I received the calling cards for this week which are WONDERFUL! And L who is taking that next step and putting her needlepoint designs up on Etsy (you go girl) and my friend J who made me this beautiful apron for my birthday. Of course how could I forget the wonderful Jen over at Preppy Potato who makes the most adorable belts. Last but not least, good luck to Sarah this weekend, I hope you sell out! These woman give me strength to forge my way in a world where they are so creative, they give me the encouragement to try things I may otherwise just dream about.

Cupcakes!. . . .I received a new cupcakes book in the mail the other day and I also received a new cupcake frosting recipe from my cousin. I cannot wait to try them out. Now. . . .if I could only find the time and someone to eat them. . . . .

Creamy Frosting:
1 stick unsalted butter (Land o Lakes), softened
1/2 tsp. salt
3/4 cup Crisco shortening (I use 0-Trans Fat variety)
1 lb. C&H powdered sugar (approx. 3 cups)
3/4 TBSP vanilla
1/4 cup water.

Cream butter, vanilla, shortening and salt in big mixer. (May add food
coloring now if desired). Gradually add powdered sugar and water. Beat all
ingredients on high until fluffy (at least 10 minutes or more).

My mom notes that it keeps in the fridge for up to 6 months. However, I
don't think we ever gave it a chance to last a week in the fridge.

Thank you for the birthday wish, Jilly! You know what's funny, I still remember the first comment you ever sent me- it was on Lisagh's bolg, actually, and it was about the opera chairs in the background of my photo. I think I knew right then that this was a blogger that I was really gonna click with! Now, that cupcake cookbook has got me charmed, I'm off to order a copy, pronto!

(ps: goes without saying, but I'm saying it anyway, I'll be thinking of you and Boy tomorrow. Keep us posted. And please tell him that we're thankful for his commitment and bravery.)
